ANGEL

Troubleshooting Tips

1. Make sure that you've completed and submitted the Syllabus & Course Policies Acceptance form in each of your online classes.

If you haven't yet completed the "Syllabus & Course Policies Acceptance" form in each of your online classes, you won't be able to see much of the content your instructor has provided.

2. Make sure you're using a supported web browser. For Windows computers, Internet Explorer 7, Internet Explorer 8, and Firefox are supported browsers for ANGEL. For Macintosh computers, Firefox is the only supported browser for ANGEL. Safari is not a supported web browser. For web browser download links, please return to the "Need Help?" link at angel.southeast.edu then view the "File Downloads" section of the page.

3. Tune-up your web browser -- an important step prior to beginning an assessment (exam) in ANGEL. Also, if you've encountered an "exception error" while working in your online class, be sure to follow the procedure steps detailed below. Also, if you've encountered difficulty with a dropbox, mail, or a discussion forum, a web browser tuneup may remedy the problem.

For Internet Explorer, here are the steps to give your web browser a quick tune-up:

a. launch Internet Explorer and make sure you're not logged in to your online course(s)
b. Use Tools --> Internet Options then click the "Delete" button
c. Click "Delete Cookies" (wait for the process to occur)
d. Click "Delete Files" (wait for the process to occur)
e. Click "Clear History" (wait for the process to occur)
f. Click "OK" then close Internet Explorer
g. Wait a few seconds then launch IE again and log in to your course

For Firefox, here are the steps to give your web browser a quick tune-up:

a. launch Firefox and make sure you're not logged in to your online course(s)
b. use Tools --> Clear Private Data
c. make sure "offline website data," "cookies," "cache," and "browsing history" are checkmarked then click the "Clear Private Data" button (wait for the process to occur)
d. log in to your online course

Note: Mac Firefox users will need to click Tools --> Clear Recent History --> "Details" then select the appropriate delete options

4. Having difficulty with ANGEL Mail, ANGEL Discussion Forums, or with printing web pages? This information will provide you with the assistance you need.

5. Check for spyware, adware and viruses.

Spyware, adware, and viruses can interfere with your ability to see content, complete exams, and submit assignments in your online classes. For more information about removing spyware, adware, and viruses from your computer, please click here.

6. Check your web browser's pop-up blocker.

Generally, the pop-up blocker from Google will not interfere with your ability to work within your online classes. However, other pop-up blockers may result in error messages. If that is the case, please disable your pop-up blocker(s) while you work in your online course or set all pop-up blockers to allow new windows to open for this web address: angel.southeast.edu

7. Check your computer's firewall.

If you're running a "firewall" program (such as Norton Personal Firewall), make sure it's not blocking your access to ANGEL. The standard Windows XP firewall generally will not interfere with your computer's ability to access your course. Be sure to set your firewall to allow access to http://angel.southeast.edu
